Gift Exchange

There’s nothing that frustrates me more than trying to find the perfect birthday gift for someone.  Some people are harder to shop for than others.  My dad, for example, wants nothing but Blu-ray movies to add to his collection.  He isn’t picky about which ones, so long as they’re Blu-ray.  My mother is another story.

My mother doesn’t like to make wish lists or leave any clues as to what she would like for her birthday or for Christmas.  She has very specific taste and she usually returns gifts if they aren’t the right color or the right size.  She exchanged they Tiffany hanging pendant light my sister and I got her for her birthday last year because it clashed with the couches in the living room.  I’m thinking of just getting her a gift card this year to make things easier for everyone.

Redecorating with Tiffany Lamps

Lately, I’ve been feeling like my home needs a little bit of redecoration; sometimes, if it’s been too long without me doing much with my home, I get a bit antsy and feel the need to do something new and interesting. Lately, I’ve been getting really into Tiffany lamps, so I started wondering if there was a good way to integrate those into my household.

Once I officially landed on adding some Tiffany style products to my house, I decided that some Tiffany style hanging lamps would be a great way to spice the place up. I really like them because in the area that I’ve place them, they can be seen as soon as you enter my home. They really liven up the place!

Hanging Tiffany Style Lamps

Now that you’ve acquired Tiffany style lamps for your home, you need to hang them with care. Many people have difficulty settling on the right height to hang their lamps. Typically, I recommend that each lamp be hung approximately 28-34 inches above the surface beneath it.

By hanging the Tiffany style lamps at this height, you maximize the cozy light emitted. Of course, when it comes to decorating other factors can change how a piece is displayed. A smaller table may require a lamp being hung lower to achieve the same cozy light. Longer tables may require lamps to be hung a little bit higher to cast light over a greater area. My advice is to start out with the 28-34 inch range and then adjust according to the surface below the lamp.

The resurgence of swag

Swag lamps are officially “in.” The most common definition of a swag lamp references a fabric lamp shade hung from a metal chain. The lamps shades, popular from the 1950s-1980s, come in all different colors and patterns and are frequently ornamented with a fringe, either of cloth or beads. Though the fabric shade swag lamps are most remembered, any hanging lamp is considered swag.

Tiffany hanging lamps are a stylish way to pay homage to the swag style. True to swag form, they are hanging, but can be further customized with colored pull chains and cords. The shape of tiffany hanging lamps mimics that of the traditional fabric shade without the worry of fraying fabric or fringe. There’s also no need to worry about fading with the vibrant stained glass panes of a tiffany style hanging lamp. This is an easy style trend to follow that even when the craze ends you’ll be left with a beautiful, quality lighting piece.
