ISHERWOOD-Jp-1-articleInlineThe Belasco Theatre is a Broadway theatre that opened in 1907 in Manhattan; it was initially known as the Stuyvesant Theatre, but was renamed for the man it was designed for: playwright, director, and theatrical producer David Belasco. The designer was George Keister, who also designed the Apollo Theater and the Bronx Opera House, among other famous buildings.

The Belasco Theatre is known for its Tiffany lighting and ceiling panels, as well as murals that were done by artist Everett Shinn. The theatre is where Marlon Brando had his first widely recognized success, which has since been known as a moment that helped jump-start his career and move him eventually towards film.

Replacing Old Lamps with Tiffany Style Table Lamps

TP2TAfter my husband decided that a giant ‘Coors Light’ sign in the kitchen was appropriate décor for the home, I decided that I would do a little of my own redecorating in the other rooms of the house with a more tasteful style, with the hopes that nicer furniture might convince him that maybe he shouldn’t be the one who’s in charge of decorations on pretty much any occasion.

One thing that I decided to do was toss out our old tacky lamps and replace them with much more elegant Tiffany style table lamps. Even though my husband has admitted that these lamps are much nicer, it hasn’t been enough yet to convince him that I should be the one who does all the decorating. I guess that means I’m going to have to get creative.
