Warehouse-of-Tiffany-Bow-Table-LampHome décor can be a bit drab when you have a more eclectic sense of style. Most retail stores serve a more broad and modern taste with bold solids and only splashes of color. For many, this lacks a certain homey inspiration that they are looking for. With all of the colors on the wheel, it’s not difficult to search for something that incorporates hues in a more captivating way.
Tiffany style lamps take some of the best features of older style and use them in a modern-friendly way. The accent lamps have more intricate designs, with some of the stands acting as tree branches and other styles that stray away from the basic cylinder and box looks. The table lamps have everything from jewel grape to lotus designs, diversifying for all different styles.

MD-36369When decorating a new home, it can get too overwhelming to focus on the small details that make a house a home, and express the style of an owner. The goal becomes more along the lines of getting everything together in one color scheme and picking out the small things later on. While there is nothing wrong with this approach, there are a few things you can purchase without going crazy.

Throw pillows are an easy accent to throw on a couch and express your individuality. There are tons of choices, but most stores have them arranged by color, making them easy to get through. Another small choice is adding light fixtures. A Tiffany pendant light can have different designs and beautiful colors to match any room décor and stick to the style of any home owner.

51565-accent-lamp-table-lampYour home should always be a place that you feel like you can relax. Considering how stressful the work world can often be, it’s nice to know that you’ve got a very relaxing area to go back to at the end of the day. This is why it’s always good to make sure that your furniture choices are as comfortable as possible, from couches and chairs to whatever sets the mood of the room.

The best way to set a proper, comfortable mood in the room is through lighting, with décor like Tiffany accent lamps. These types of accent lamps will make certain that you don’t have harsh, blinding light coming down on you when you’re just trying to lounge around on the couch after work and unwind. They’re designed to set a certain mood.

Reading by Tiffany Style Table Lamp

P1149741My living room is my favorite place to lounge around and read books. I’m an avid book reader and I usually read a few dozen books a year. I never found myself with much of an interest in television or movies, so my living room’s primary focus is as a place for me to comfortably read in peace and maybe have a few snacks while I’m engrossed in a novel.

I’ve got a few end tables and coffee tables in the room as well, and I’ve got a Tiffany style table lamp that I use to give myself a little bit more lighting when I’m reading, which is incredibly important. There’s nothing more annoying than not having the proper amount of light in the room when you’re trying to read a good book.

Writing with Tiffany Table Lamps

stained-glass-retro-table-lamps-tiffany-style-dragonfly-pattern_uhghzx1371713495853My computer recently had some major issues and completely stopped working, which is a problem for me, because I am a writer. Most of the time I’ve been going to the library to get computer work done, while I work at home on building a new computer. However, something that I’ve been doing a lot of when it comes to writing is writing out my thoughts by hand.

I kind of like writing my thoughts by hand, lit by the Tiffany table lamps that I have in my house. There’s something that feels a little bit more personal when it comes to writing by hand, as opposed to writing it on a computer. I feel like the things I write down last longer in my head when I physically write them out; I wonder why that is.

Tiffany Lamps to Spruce Up a Drab Apartment

Metal-Hanging-Wall-Art-ideas-for-Living-RoomI had some friends visit my new apartment for the first time yesterday and they immediately questioned my decorating ability. It’s not really my strong suit and they were giving me some pointers about how I could spruce things up. Apparently, my problem is a tendency to keep things looking very drab and dull, when I’m left to my own elements.

Luckily, one of my friends has decided to help me add some life to my place. Her first suggestion was that I add some Tiffany lamps to certain areas of the apartment, because my apartment is low on lighting and there’s not a lot of interesting décor pieces either. I actually really like them; I think that these lamps are definitely a good start.

The Belasco Theatre and its Tiffany Lighting

ISHERWOOD-Jp-1-articleInlineThe Belasco Theatre is a Broadway theatre that opened in 1907 in Manhattan; it was initially known as the Stuyvesant Theatre, but was renamed for the man it was designed for: playwright, director, and theatrical producer David Belasco. The designer was George Keister, who also designed the Apollo Theater and the Bronx Opera House, among other famous buildings.

The Belasco Theatre is known for its Tiffany lighting and ceiling panels, as well as murals that were done by artist Everett Shinn. The theatre is where Marlon Brando had his first widely recognized success, which has since been known as a moment that helped jump-start his career and move him eventually towards film.

Tiffany Style Floor Lamps after an Earthquake

c6667An earthquake struck near our home recently; it didn’t do an enormous amount of damage because it wasn’t a particularly heinous quake, but we did lose a few furnishings in our home to the earthquake. After the earthquake knocked all of our lamps over and broke them, we saw this as a sign to replace them with something completely different.

The lamps that we had initially had were pretty bland and uninteresting. This was an opportunity for my husband and I to pick out some lamps that actually were appealing to the eye. We landed on Tiffany style floor lamps because they looked so much nicer than any of the other choices that had been presented to us while we were looking for lamps.

Writing with Tiffany Desk Lamps

Salvation Army 002I’m a writer and I prefer writing things by hand before I finalize them on the computer screen; I’m not really sure what it is, but there’s something that feels more authentic to me about writing by hand. There are certainly some issues I run into with this, like the fact that it’s much easier to go back and change things on a computer, but sometimes I think that ability is what causes writer’s block in the first place.

Another issue you can sometimes run into is not having the proper lighting in the room where you want to write and perhaps re-read some of the things you’ve already written. That’s why I’ve got some Tiffany desk lamps on my desk to brighten up the place and make it a more comfortable place for me to sit down and get some genuine writing done.

Replacing Old Lamps with Tiffany Style Table Lamps

TP2TAfter my husband decided that a giant ‘Coors Light’ sign in the kitchen was appropriate décor for the home, I decided that I would do a little of my own redecorating in the other rooms of the house with a more tasteful style, with the hopes that nicer furniture might convince him that maybe he shouldn’t be the one who’s in charge of decorations on pretty much any occasion.

One thing that I decided to do was toss out our old tacky lamps and replace them with much more elegant Tiffany style table lamps. Even though my husband has admitted that these lamps are much nicer, it hasn’t been enough yet to convince him that I should be the one who does all the decorating. I guess that means I’m going to have to get creative.
