There are four major color schemes used in decorating: monochromatic, analogousMonochromatic Color Scheme, complementary and triad.

One Color – Monochromatic

This scheme is one color in varying intensities from light to dark.

Monochromatic exampleThis living room is one example of a monochromatic color scheme. It is done in shades of gray. You could change the live floral arrangement for a dried arrangement in a darker gray vase ensemble for a different look.Alternate accessory for monochromatic

Two to Six Colors – Analogous

analogous color scheme

This scheme is 2-6 colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel.

Analogous Color SchemeThis den is one example of an analogous color scheme. The colors used are green through a red-orange. An ornate vase in the same color scheme can replace the solid black on the table and still hold the same basic look.Alternate accessory for analogous example

Two Color – Complementary

This scheme uses two colors located directly across from each other on the color wheel.

Complementary Color SchemeThis bedroom is one example of a complementary scheme. The colors pink and green are across from each other on the color wheel. You could replace the photo frame with a decorative night light for a younger female.Alternate accessory for complementary example

Three Color – TriadTriad Color Scheme

This scheme is made up of any three colors that form a triangle in the center of the wheel. This scheme is bold but balanced.

Triad Color SchemeThis room is one example of a triad scheme. The colors purple and green with a splash of orange are used in this room. If you are not a fan of long tapers, an alternative in this room could be a modern stair-step votive candle holder.Triad accessory alternative

Soon we will cover color dimensions. There are three dimensions to color, hue, value and saturation. We will also cover the natural reactions to color.

It’s only after editing when I realize what I’ve done. There’s defiantly a lot of great tips here I’m going to try to be more aware of.

If what I ultimately have to offer is half as much as what you now have to offer, I’ll be able to consider it a job well done.

Burn up each candle and make notes on perfume strength, burn up time etc. Each evening, attempt just 1 candle. Be objective. This way you will ultimately discover your ideal scented candle. It may seem like lots of work but the rewards are huge and also the journey is enjoyable. Scented candle heaven awaits. All it takes is a bit of patience and some trial and error.
