A Tiffany Lamp Soothes After A Bad Day At Work

tif-c-gal006I had the longest day ever at work the other day; I was just dealing with so many irate customers and getting yelled at by them. On top of that, my boss had recently lost a major account and he was really upset so I was getting yelled at by him as well because things had been pretty slow with our company lately. All of the yelling coming from all directions made for an unpleasant day.

The worst part of it all was that it was happening on a Monday and it didn’t make me particularly excited for the rest of the week. By the end of the work day, I was completely exhausted and really not feeling very good at all. All I wanted to do at the end of the day was curl up next to a Tiffany lamp with a good book and a glass of wine.

Redecorating With A Tiffany Table Lamp

tiffany1Some people see redecorating as a pain, but honestly, I see it as something I live for. Before I met my husband and we had our children, I was studying Interior Design in school and was planning to design the insides of restaurants. I never got a chance to do that professionally, but whenever we redecorate part of our family home, I always get a chance to show off my skills.

Most recently, the room that my husband and I decided to redecorate was the living room. Generally, when we’re doing any remodeling or redecorating, my husband butts out and just leaves everything to me, because he knows I prefer it that way. The first thing that I got for the updated living room is a Tiffany table lamp that I know will tie the room together.

Thanks For The Gift Idea, Louis Comfort Tiffany

Valentine’s Day is coming up and I have a good idea on what to get my girlfriend. Last year I got her some jewelry so this year I want to get her something different. I get her jewelry on all the major gift-giving holidays and her birthday so I think she’s expecting more of the same from me this year on Valentine’s Day. I want to surprise her in a good way this year.

My girlfriend studies art in college. She’s taken a liking to her art history class because it introduces her to some of the major artists from the past couple of centuries. She would come home and show me their works and talk about their influences and the meanings behind their masterpieces. So, for this Valentine’s Day I’m getting her a beautifully handcrafted stained glass lamp in the vain of the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany. I saw one in an antiques shop once and it really stood out to me. The colors were bright and vibrant and the design was one-of-a-kind. I know she will love it

Forgetting the Little Things

I recently moved into a new apartment a couple of weeks ago.  My lease was up and this new place was considerably bigger than my previous apartment for about the same price.  It’s also closer to where I work so that’s also a good thing.  The move was relatively painless.  I had some buddies help me load all of the heavy furniture and boxes into a truck and that was it.

I usually do a poor job packing.  I usually forget something.  This time, I made sure I didn’t forget anything by doing three sweeps of the old apartment before I left for the last time.  Everything I owned was on the truck when I drove off.  I was feeling extra proud of myself while driving to the new apartment.  That all changed when I opened the back of the truck and found that all the boxes were toppled over because I forgot to use the safety straps to keep everything in place.  A few items were broken like my Tiffany desk lamp and my convection oven.  I wondered to myself if I was better off forgetting them back in the old apartment.

Generator in Bad Weather

We’ve been going through a pretty bad bout of weather recently, what with blizzard warnings (that luckily haven’t come to fruition) and windstorms aplenty. As there are a lot of trees where I live, we’ve had a few go down, which has unfortunately killed my power a couple times.

Luckily, I have our generator connected to certain areas of the house, so the most recent time that it happened I was able to easily turn on my Tiffany style table lamp, as well as my heater, so that I could curl up on the couch and read a book in my living room even though our power lines were down.

Writing in the Light

I’m trying to be a writer and I like to do a lot of my writing by hand. Since I don’t have a computer screen to look at when I’m working this way, having some decent lighting is pretty important to me. This is the reason that I needed to find some high quality desk lamps to use, because I like writing at a special desk that I have in my house. As long as I only write there, I can actually get work done and I don’t get distracted.

When I was searching for lamps to put up in my desk, I found myself particularly attracted to Tiffany desk lamps. The reason I like them so much is that they’re appealing to the eye and they really tie the room together, as well as providing the light that I need in order to write at my desk. They’re really beautiful and equally useful.

The Origin of Tiffany Lamps

Tiffany lamps are a type of lamp that were originally designed in 1895 by a designer known as Louis Comfort Tiffany, as well as the rest of his design studio. The original lamps were artsy looking lamps, typically handmade by craftsmen rather than being mass-produced. They used different colors of glass in the lampshade in different patterns to make lamps look like art.

A Tiffany pendant light fixture is essentially hanging version of the basic Tiffany table lamps. These lights still have the extravagant, beautiful colored glass patterns that all Tiffany lamps have, but they hang as pendant lights from the ceiling, somewhat like a chandelier with a lampshade.

Treat Yourself to Tiffany Lamps

I recently just got a raise at my job and it even came with a pretty nice bonus. I work really hard at my job and I thought that it was well-deserved that I got this raise and bonus for my hard work. I decided that I would treat myself by going out and purchasing some new décor items for my home.

Some of the items I purchased were Tiffany table lamps. They add some really much-needed lighting to my living and family rooms. I’ve always liked the Tiffany style lamps because of the interesting colors and patterns that they tend to have on them. They add a unique style to your home that’s subtle and trendy at the same time.

Decorating a New Apartment

I recently moved into a new apartment and I’ve been having some trouble figuring out how to furnish it, because this is the first time I’ve ever lived on my own. I’ve always mixed and matched furniture with whatever roommates I was living with at the time, but this time it’s my own place and I want to be sure that everything about the apartment fits who I am as a person.

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted for chairs and tables particularly. One easy choice I made was picking up a few Tiffany style table lamps to brighten up the place. I thought those fit my style quite a bit. The next thing I’ve got to work on is decorative items for the walls and tables.

No Lighting at Home

My apartment didn’t come with very good lighting. Most of the rooms don’t have previously installed light fixtures in the ceiling or really anywhere, apart from a dim one in each of the bedrooms, a few in the bathrooms, and one in the kitchen. This can be a little annoying, especially in the winter, when it’s darker outside and there’s less natural light coming in.

The worst offender is the living room. Without the TV on, there’s really no light in there at all. I do, however, have a Tiffany desk lamp that lights up the room. It makes reading a lot easier and if I’ve got any work that I’ve brought home, I can do it in the living room instead of having to shut myself away in my bedroom.
