Space-saving Decorating Ideas

I moved into a new apartment a few months ago and I am just now getting around to sprucing the place up. Although my parent’s house is meticulously decorated, I lack the nesting gene, being more than satisfied with living out of boxes for a couple of months. However, the time has come to settle on a location for all of my belongings.

After unpacking most of my things, it became readily apparent that my apartment was much smaller than I had imagined; there is hardly room to make it to and from the front door. So I had to get innovative: I went to the hardware store and purchased some shelves I could install in lieu of bookcases and dressers. I also picked up some Tiffany style hanging lamps, which provide valuable illumination, add some character to my décor and don’t take up any floor or table space.

Flameless CandleWe all love our candlelight, but many areas of our homes are not suited for an open flame. When you find yourself saddled with this dilema, don’t sell yourself short and change your decorating plan. You can have the candlelight effect without the flame.

Technology driven by necessity, has evolved and allowed us to keep the design aspectsAngelic Flameless Candle we love without the dangers. We use beautiful candleholders in our decor as accent pieces and focal points. We have been limited in the past by the placement of these items because of the open flames. We now have access to flameless candles that have improved drastically in recent years. They now look life-like when lit, no longer taking on the plastic flashlight aura they had in the beginning. Some even come made of scented paraffin wax making them even more realistic.

If you have avoided the lovely glow of candlelight because you have children, pets or high traffic areas, use this completely safe alternative for the same effect.

Your guests will be amused as well as surprised when they notice the scene you have spotlighted so uniquely.

Victorian Tiffany Style Floor LampThe way you arrange your furniture and light a room gives others a glimpse at your personal interests. You can be assured that comfortable chairs, shoulder-high lighting and book cases full of books will alert a visitor to your passion for reading. Why not do it in style?

Tiffany style floor lamps come in a wide variety of colors and shapes and are the perfect height for reading. Since floor lamps use very little floor space, they can be conveniently placed next to any sitting area.

The right tiffany lamp along with a good imagination can place you directly into the story. Whether you are reading a love story taking place in an elaborate castle or reading a biography of  your favorite author,  you alone set the scene in your mind.

I guess that is why I like to read the book before seeing the movie.

Your living room is one of the few areas in your home which require unique and thoughtful decorating. It is the first room that everyone will see so it should have a great impact the moment you step in the room.  There are a lot of living room décor to choose from.

You can start with the color theme of the room.  From there, you can easily find the right furniture and accessories to put in the room. I prefer a minimalist approach, using pragmatic yet stylish items, such as ornate clocks and Tiffany style table lamps, to enhance the room’s ambiance. You can really personalize the space with your artwork as well. When your living room is done, you can move on to less prominent rooms that require a makeover decorate.
